Pirket
The city where I was born and raised, the places that witnessed my childhood, and the common element among these structures: the breeze block (pirket). Beyond its texture, color, and structural features, the breeze block represents a social phenomenon between the old and the new Gaziantep. It reveals the unseen face of a developing city.
A collection of compressed, irregular, gray structures. The connection I built with these places and breeze blocks during my childhood evolved and grew stronger as I grew older and they began to disappear. The breeze block is not just a construction material but also a symbol of urban transformation.
